And that gave us an idea for summer ☀️

Where to Go on a Road Trip in Sweden with GoMore This Summer?
With its endless forests, archipelagos, creative cities and long summer days, Sweden is the perfect destination for anyone looking to escape without necessarily chasing the heat.
This summer, discover a collection of refreshing getaways that can easily be reached by train and then explored by car with GoMore.
Stockholm: Trendy Neighbourhoods and Outdoor Adventures
Thousands of islands, wooden piers and summer evenings that seem to last forever.

The Stockholm Archipelago is one of Sweden’s most spectacular playgrounds for island hopping, kayaking and exploring hidden coves. From Värmdö or Vaxholm, it’s easy to get out on the water and enjoy a nature escape just a few kilometres from the capital.
After a day outdoors, head back into Stockholm to discover another side of the city through its museums, galleries, summer concerts or a stroll through Södermalm’s creative streets.
💡 Our tip: Combine a kayaking trip in the archipelago with a visit to Fotografiska or an outdoor summer event in Stockholm.
🚗 Getting there: Rent a car in Stockholm and drive to Värmdö (around 25 km, approximately 30 minutes) or Vaxholm (around 35 km, approximately 35–45 minutes).
Gothenburg: Design, Culture and Summer Festivals
Often overshadowed by Stockholm, Gothenburg is actually one of Sweden’s most creative cities.

Between waterfront architecture, independent cafés, design boutiques, concert venues and alternative neighbourhoods, it offers the perfect cultural break during a summer road trip.
Every August, the city hosts Way Out West, one of Scandinavia’s most iconic festivals. Set in the beautiful Slottsskogen Park, the event combines music, film, urban culture and Swedish summer vibes. There are still a few tickets available 😉
If you’re looking for some peace and quiet after the city, Gothenburg is also the gateway to Sweden’s west coast archipelago. In just a few minutes, you can swap busy streets for islands, swimming spots, coastal walks and fresh sea air.
💡 Our tip: Start by exploring the cafés and boutiques of Haga, then head to Slottsskogen if you’re visiting during Way Out West. The next day, drive to Saltholmen and hop on a ferry to the archipelago islands.
🚗 Getting there: Rent a car in Gothenburg and reach Slottsskogen in less than 10 minutes from the city centre, or Saltholmen in around 20–25 minutes.
Värmdö & Siggesta Gård: Local Favourites
Less than an hour from Stockholm, Värmdö offers a quieter, greener and more local side of Sweden.

We especially recommend stopping at Siggesta Gård, a great place to enjoy local food, spend time outdoors and slow down for a while.
It’s the perfect stop if you’re looking to escape the city and enjoy some fresh air.
💡 Our tip: Combine Värmdö with a coastal walk or a stop in the archipelago. It’s an easy way to turn half a day into a proper mini road trip.
🚗 Getting there: Rent your car in Stockholm and reach Värmdö in under an hour.
Tiveden: Fancy a Forest Bath?
In the heart of Sweden, Tiveden National Park looks like something straight out of a Nordic fairytale.

Moss-covered boulders, ancient pine trees and quiet trails make it one of the best places to slow down and enjoy the coolness of the forest.
Here, it’s not just about hiking. It’s about embracing the Scandinavian concept of forest bathing: taking the time to observe, listen and reconnect with nature.
💡 Our tip: Start early and follow the Trollkyrkorundan trail to experience the forest at its most peaceful.
🚗 Getting there: Rent a car in Örebro and drive approximately 90 km (around 1 hour and 15 minutes) to Tiveden National Park.
Kiruna & Abisko: Experience the Midnight Sun in Swedish Lapland
For a truly unique experience, head north of the Arctic Circle.
Between late May and mid-July, the sun never fully disappears below the horizon, bathing the landscapes of Swedish Lapland in a golden light that feels almost unreal.
From Kiruna, it’s easy to reach Abisko, one of the best places in Sweden to witness this extraordinary phenomenon. Night hikes, lakeside walks around Torneträsk, or simply sitting and admiring the mountains—here, the best plan is often to forget about the time entirely.
💡 Our tip: Bring a warm jacket and a sleep mask. Even in summer, evenings can be cool in northern Sweden, and the constant daylight can be surprising when it’s time to sleep.
🚗 Getting there: Rent a car in Kiruna and drive around 95 km (approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes) to Abisko.
Malmö: Culture, Urban Design and a Seaside Skatepark

Summer freshness in Sweden isn’t limited to forests and archipelagos.
In Malmö, you’ll find it through contemporary architecture, public spaces and waterfront walks.
Once known for its shipyards and industrial activity, Malmö has reinvented itself as one of Scandinavia’s most creative cities. Sustainable neighbourhoods, cultural venues and beautifully designed public spaces can be found throughout the city.
💡 Our tip: Stop by Stapelbäddsparken in the Västra Hamnen district. Built on former docklands, this large skatepark has become a symbol of Malmö’s urban transformation. Even if you don’t skate, it’s worth visiting for its raw architecture, creative atmosphere and proximity to the sea.
🚗 Getting there: Rent a car in Malmö and reach Stapelbäddsparken in around 10 minutes from the city centre. While you’re there, explore Västra Hamnen and admire the iconic Turning Torso.
