Owner - Protecting my account after suspicious activity

Article mis à jour le 22/10/2025

If you think someone else might have accessed your account, here are our tips on how to check and secure your Getaround account.

Did you receive an unusual login alert?

If you’ve received an email or notification from Getaround about an unusual login, it means we detected a sign-in to your account from a new device, location, or browser that we didn’t recognize.

This alert is part of our security system. It helps keep your account safe by notifying you when something unexpected happens.

If you recognize the login

If the login was made by you (for example, from your phone, your computer, or while traveling), you don’t need to do anything. You can safely ignore the email.

If you don’t recognize the login

If the login wasn’t made by you or someone you know, please follow these steps immediately:

  • Change your password. Go to your account settings and create a new password. Choose a strong password that you don’t use on other websites.
  • Make sure the phone number and email address in your account settings are correct. If not, update your information right away.

Once you’ve completed these steps, your account will be secure again and no further action is required.

If you’re still unsure or suspect unauthorized access, contact our support team so we can review your account activity.

How to stay safe in the future

  • Use a unique password for each online service.
  • Never share your login details, even with friends or family.
  • Log out after using a shared or public device.
  • Avoid clicking on links in suspicious emails — always sign in directly through the Getaround app or official website.
  • Keep your Getaround app and operating system up to date.
