Understanding requirements for drivers
How is the driver's profile verified?
In all cases, Getaround will check the driver's profile before they collect the car:
Getaround will ask the driver to send us a copy of their license, ID and a selfie so we can verify their profile. If the drivers profile is not validated, you will have access to this information by going to My rentals, then clicking on the rental in question.
For Key Exchange rentals, you will still need to double check the license of the driver renting your car when you meet with them, to be sure the details match what is shown to you in the app. You should never hand over they keys if the information presented to you does not match what is shown to you in the app.
Foreign licences issued within the European Economic Area
A driver holding a license issued by one of the countries of the European Economic Area (EU + Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) can drive in the countries where Getaround operates. The legal rules governing this right are available below:

Foreign licences
All countries
It is possible to rent on Getaround with a foreign driving license. Specific verifications can be required however, depending on the issuing country. Getaround takes care of the verifications.
NB: If the foreign licence is written in a different alphabet (Chinese for instance), you will need to check and take pictures of the original licence AND an international licence or an official translation of the original licence.

Requirements by Car Category
Cars are divided into different categories according to their model and age.
Each car is moderated after being listed on the website. If your car is placed in the highest categories, you will be informed via e-mail.
To find out which category your car belongs to, go to Your cars > Manage your listing > Your conditions.
For cars registered in France
- Eco: the driver must have more than 2 years of driving history
- Comfort: the driver must have more than 5 years of driving history
- Premium: the driver must have more than 7 years of driving history
- Prestige: the driver must have more than 10 years of driving history and not have caused any significant damages in the last 2 years during Getaround rentals
For cars registered in Norway
- Eco: the driver must be over 20
- Comfort: the driver must be over 20
- Premium: the driver must be over 25
- Prestige: the driver must be over 30
For cars registered in other countries
- Eco: the driver must be over 21 and have more than 2 years of driving history
- Comfort: the driver must be over 25 and have more than 2 years of driving history
- Privilege: the driver must be over 28 have more than 3 years of driving history
